DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC – One person is dead following a hit-and-run collision that happened on I-26 near Ridgeville on Saturday, according to WCSC.
A person was driving a Mercedes west on I-26 when they hit the back of a semi-truck around 12:30 a.m.
The collision caused the semi-truck to go off the road and slam into a tree before rolling over. The sedan hit a cable median barrier and then left the area.
Rescue crews pronounced the semi-truck driver dead at the scene.
Officials have not released the victim’s name.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
