AIKEN COUNTY, SC – According to WACH, the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Aiken County Coroner’s Office are investigating a fatal crash that happened on I-20 at Exit 6 on Wednesday.

The driver of a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant was heading west when they strayed off the road and hit a traffic sign before slamming into multiple trees and catching on fire around 2:51 p.m.

Rescue crews pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

Officials have not identified the driver because of their severe burn injuries.
