CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC – According to WCIV, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly impaired when she fatally collided with another vehicle on SC 174 near Willtown Rd on July 16.
The 17-year-old was driving a Chevrolet sedan on SC 174 when she strayed into oncoming traffic and hit a Ford sedan around 7:45 a.m.
Rescue crews pronounced one person from the Ford, Francene Gibbs, 60, dead at the scene. It is unclear how many others were hurt in the collision.
The 17-year-old had a BAC of .099 and 6.2 nanograms of THC were in her system at the time of the crash.
Authorities charged the 17-year-old with felony DUI resulting in death. They booked her in a juvenile detention center on Saturday.
