GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC – According to WMBF, a driver died in a single-vehicle collision on Old Pee Dee Rd on Thursday.

Leon Davis, 80, was driving on Old Pee Dee Rd when he collided with a tree at 8:21 p.m. The tree had been leaning towards the road due to Tropical Storm Idalia and fell onto the roadway at 8:15 p.m.

Rescue crews pronounced Davis dead at the scene of the accident.

The crash is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
